| Clivus
Multrum, Inc. (www.ClivusMultrum.com):
Clivus composting toilets are specified in all NutriCycle System
plans because they are the industry leader, especially in generating
end-products that are safe for recycling. The Clivus website
contains important information on the various models, maintenance,
health testing (including a link to the National Sanitation
Foundation), graywater, and sustainable agriculture.
Graywater
(www.Greywater.com):
put up by the engineers at Clivus, Inc., this site is an
excellent, in-depth, discussion of the advantages of handling
graywater separately from black water.
Worldwatch
Institute (www.worldwatch.org):
The Worldwatch Paper #135, "Recycling Organic Waste: From
Urban Pollutant to Farm Resource" is an excellent global
overview of the problems caused by one-way nutrient flows and the
solutions possible with nutrient recycling. The website offers a
summary of the Paper, information on the author, and you can order
a print copy ($5.00).
Williams
Residence (www.arches.uga.edu/~alanwill/straw/):
the first straw bale house in Frederick County, MD; under
construction with photos updated periodically; uses a NutriCycle
System as well as many other sustainable technologies.
OSDS Report:
Reducing
The Nutrient Impacts From On-Site Sewage Disposal Systems (www.dnr.state.md.us/bay/tribstrat/osds.pdf):
produced by The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, this
report makes good suggestions for regulatory improvements to
encourage "nutrient reducing" technologies, and
recommends land use policies that are not based on percolation and
nutrient dilution (toilet zoning).
Maryland
Green Building Network (www.dnr.state.md.us/programs/greenbuilding/):an
ad-hoc network of architects, builders, contractors, developers,
planners, landscape architects, real estate professionals,
and citizens interested in green buildings.
Sustainable
Land Use: most of these sites do not mention "nutrient
recycling" but they should, and they will as the idea catches
on.
